The intent of this scholarship is to support and propitiate the study of the family and to preserve the ideals upon which the family is founded. These scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to complete their education, who are making satisfactory progress, and are committed to the moral code of the university and the gospel principles which guide it.

This scholarship is to be given to undergraduates or graduate students in the Marriage, Family and Human Development program of the School of Family Life who are committed to complete their education and will abide by the honor code. Recipients shall demonstrate scholastic achievement by maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Preference should be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
The Marriage, Family, and Human Development Research Award is funded by proceeds from the sale of a book authored by Marriage, Family, and Human Development professors and students. A number of students played key roles in the data collection, analysis, and write-up of findings. In recognition of the contribution that students continually make to the research process in the Marriage, Family, and Human Development Department, this award is given to a student who shows promise as a family scholar and who will share research findings with families.
All of the scholarships are given from funds established by the donors. Since the university allows only the interest to be used, the amount of the scholarships will vary year to year.
Students must register for a minimum of 28 credits during the two semesters covered by a scholarship in order to be eligible unless arrangements have been made previously with the Marriage, Family, and Human Development department.
