MFHD Program

The PAR Committee faculty identified ten specialties for MFHD with some faculty affiliated with more than one specialty. MFHD Faculty input regarding journal inpact in specialty areas was sought after and the following list was compiled. Over the past decade, MFHD faculty have published in over 100 different scholarly outlets. This information, along with projected publication outlets for current faculty were used in compiling this list. Journals primarily deemed to be tier one or tier two are included below. It should be noted that specialty areas can be further subdivided into sub-specialties. For example, in Human Development, there are specializations in social development, parenting, infancy, adolescence, cognition, language development, moral development, cross-cultural behavioral development, and so on. Each has their own journals and professional organizations. To simplify things, subspecialties were aggregated under specialty categories.

The following rules applied in ranking the following journals:(a) Primary Journals: the best available in each subspecialty; (b) Secondary Journals: those that are important to a subspecialty, but not of the top rank; (c) Tertiary Journals: respected outlets of limited influence.
