The MFHD graduate program has a number of assistantships and scholarships. Applicants should indicate in the admission process that they desire financial assistance. Financial assistance is available to students who have met the prerequisite requirements for the program.
The usual assistantship for a master’s student is quarter-time. Doctoral assistantships are half-time. Assistantships are available to Master’s students for four semesters, and doctoral students for six semesters, providing the levels of program funding are maintained and the student’s performance is satisfactory.
A half tuition scholarship is provided for each master’s student. A full tuition scholarship is provided for each doctoral student. Assistantships and Scholarships for Spring and Summer terms are only awarded when special funding becomes available and cannot be guaranteed.
There are several scholarships available to graduate students through the School of Family Life. Amoung these are six Sant Scholarships, a full tuition scholarship for Master's students, and the Blaine R. Porter Doctoral Student Scholarship, a $3,000 award for PhD students. There are several smaller awards and scholarships available to exceptional students. All scholarships are awarded in addition to the funding provided by the deparment. Only hard copy applications are acceptable and should be delivered to 2086 JFSB.
